2021 Daphne Youth Football Information


Important Dates:

Monday, June 14 - Registration Opens

Friday, July 23 - COACHES ONLY - All volunteers (coaches assistants, etc..) are asked to come to the Daphne Rec Center (2605 Hwy 98) at 5:30 pm to help clean, size and set up helmets and shoulder pads for equipment checkout.  This should only take an hour or so as long as we get enough help.

Friday, July 23 - Registration Closes

Saturday, July 24 - Equipment checkout for all players from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at the Daphne Rec Center (2605 Hwy 98) located between the civic center and library.  Player and guardian need to be there to be sized and to sign for equipment.  All coaches are asked to be there at 9:30 to help size and distribute equipment to players.  We will also get player weight and jersey size.

Tuesday, July 27 - Make Up Day for equipment checkout.  6:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Trione Park football concession stand.  All coaches are asked to be there to help size and distribute equipment.  There will be a short coach meeting at 7:00 pm at Trione Park.  If you absolutely cannot make it to either of the equipment checkout dates, we will get your child equipment during the first week of practices at the football field concession stand.  Please use this option as a last resort as it will be more time consuming because we will not have people to help size and distribute equipment.

Thursday, July 29 - Player evaluations for age groups that will have more than one team.  We will notify each age group by Wednesday, July 28 as to whether or not you will need to be at player evaluations.

Monday, August 2 - Practices MAY begin for teams.  This is completely up to the coach as to when they choose to start practices.  Some may wait a few days.  If you have not heard from a coach by Saturday, July 31, please email and we will make sure your coach reaches out to you. 

Saturday, September 11 - First week of games.  Regular season will last about 8 weeks.




Equipment - City will provide helmet and shoulder pads (which must be returned at end of season) and ONE mouthpiece.  Parents will need to provide chin strap, practice jersey (or large t-shirt that will go over shoulder pads), practice pants and game pants.  Everyone's first question is what color pants do I need to buy.  The answer you will get from us is that we recommend you purchasing a cheap pair of practice pants (any color).  Once teams are worked out, the coach will notify you what color you will need for game pants.

Practices - Most teams will practice 3 nights a week prior to games beginning and then drop down to twice a week once games begin.  But some coaches prefer to maintain the 3 practices a week all season.  The bottom line is that a coach cannot practice or play games more than 6 hours a week.  Practices for most teams will be held at Trione Park, but some coaches prefer to practice at "the pit" at Daphne High School.  Some teams may practice at Daphne Middle School. 

Games - Games will likely begin the Saturday after Labor Day.  Teams will play 8 games with the possibility of making the playoffs and playing a few more games.  Season should be over prior to Thanksgiving.  Game locations could be anywhere from Bay Minette to Gulf Shores.  Most games will take place on Saturdays although there could be a few midweek games as well.
